In APER psicología, the sessions can be in person or on-line. In the first session we talk about what bring you to us and what do you want to improve. Later we have one or two evaluation sessions to know and analyze your case and be able to plan the intervention.

In the third session, after a complete functional analysis of the situation you are going through, we will explain to you what our hypothesis is about what is happening to you and we will propose an intervention plan adapted to your case, based on treatments that have proven to be effective, or what is known in psychology as Evidence-Based Psychological Practices (PPBE).

In consecutive sessions of psychotherapy or treatment, you will be provided with the necessary skills so that you learn to manage and advance towards the objectives that we have set, so that you can feel better.

Sessions are usually weekly, adapted to each person's particular situation.

The average number of sessions that a patient may need is between 7 and 8 sessions, depending on each case, it may vary, since the treatments are personalized and depend on both individual factors and the situation that the person is going through.

We Offer psychoterapy in Albacete to help you in the following situations:

Anxiety and stress

Anxiety can cause great discomfort and make your daily life difficult. In our consultation, we carry out an environmental assessment to analyze the variables that conditioned your problem and those that may be maintaining it, in order to learn new tools and more effective ways of acting that can alleviate your discomfort.

Low Mood, Sadness and Depression

Depression does not necessarily imply that there is an imbalance within you, sometimes people go through situations in which the ways of avoiding our pain, far from being the solution, maintain the problem, affecting our quality of life and, immersing the person in sadness, lack of activity and little ability to enjoy the little things, the person believes that whatever they do they will not stop suffering. You do not have to do it alone, little by little, you can alleviate that emptiness or discomfort and begin to improve a little each day.

Chronic Pain

Chronic pain, which also includes fibromyalgia, is a chronic disorder of widespread and diffuse pain that negatively affects functioning in the psychological and social aspects of life, with a high worldwide prevalence of 90% in women. There is evidence of psychopathological comorbidities in patients with FM such as depression, anxiety and stress. Limited psychological flexibility can lead to a lower tolerance to pain. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) has been shown to be an effective therapy to improve pain and associated symptoms in people with chronic pain.

Grief, Recovering from Loss

Although each person may react differently to the same event, and therefore there is no “appropriate” way to act versus an “inappropriate” way to act, it is true that there are usually a series of common behaviors, thoughts and emotions when one has suffered the loss of a loved one. Knowing that the grieving process we are going through is normal and that it happens to most people who suffer this type of loss is therapeutic in itself. Knowing how we will evolve also has a positive effect.

Self-esteem

Self-esteem refers to the way we value and perceive ourselves. It includes confidence in our abilities, acceptance of our limitations, and a general sense of personal worth.

In a society like today's with the influence of social media, the continued display of perfection, along with the canons of beauty...and the need for approval from others.

It is difficult to have healthy self-esteem, but improving self-esteem implies taking action. We do not have a remote control to raise it, nor is it something that can be improved in a crash course... do not wait to feel well to take action, actions will take you closer to where you want to be.

Obsessions

What for any person could be a harmless thought with no associated discomfort, for some reason or trigger in that person's life, that thought begins to become something threatening and the person focuses so much on this thought that it becomes the center of their life.

It becomes such an extreme fear that the person does not feel capable of dealing with that pain and somehow creates a kind of behavior to lessen the pain. Thus, every time these thoughts appear, they feel the need to do something about it.

Anger, Rage, Guilt, Emotional Regulation

Emotions are important for human survival because they allow us to adapt to changing environmental conditions. There are basic emotions (joy, fear, sadness, surprise and anger) that are necessary to deal with different situations.

Emotions are functional or dysfunctional based on their intensity, duration, frequency and expression. The expression of emotion allows us to face situations, being adaptive to the extent that the consequences are positive: setting limits, defending ourselves and/or escaping from an attack. However, inadequate anger management is a factor that is related to the development of different diseases, the manifestation of aggressive behaviors with the deterioration of interpersonal relationships and with the experience of feelings of guilt and sadness when we feel unable to control it.

Emotional Dependency

The relationships can be difficult and sometimes they need a little extra help to heal.

There are many definitions for this concept, so people come to the consultation with a label as a cause and as an explanation: “why can’t a person leave their partner?”, “because they are emotionally dependent”. “Why are they emotionally dependent?”, “because they can’t leave their partner”. It leads to a circular explanation, labels are given that don’t explain anything. We have to start to escape from this label and start to approach it from the context of that person, to focus on the person’s learning history and the function of the behaviors that we label as emotional dependence.

Addictions

Addictions can have a devastating impact on all aspects of a person's life, including their physical health, emotional well-being, personal relationships, and job performance. Each therapeutic strategy has advantages and challenges, which involve individualizing the patient to select the appropriate approach. The importance of combining different therapeutic modalities to maximize results is emphasized. Therefore, it is important to implement a comprehensive approach that addresses the neurobiological, psychological, and social aspects of addiction to provide comprehensive and personalized care to patients.

Child Psychology

Many of the psychological problems of adults have their origin in childhood, which is why there is currently great concern about early detection and intervention.

Although childhood problems can be serious, they are easier to prevent at an early age. The key is to prevent mental problems and possible disorders. The factors that most influence therapeutic success have to do with the nature of the problem, the personal and technical skills of the therapist, and the motivation, collaboration, and support of the family.

General requirements for a good intervention include three aspects: 1. The therapist's skills, including his or her personal aptitudes and technical knowledge in the field of psychological intervention. 2. Ensuring comprehensive care, including the family and other types of professionals if possible. 3. The therapeutic framework, understood as the construction of a context for therapy that fosters change and alliance.

Current Problems in Adolescents

In adolescence, the problems are similar to those of adults. Affective and cognitive symptoms are present in most cases, and anhedonia and sadness may appear more intensely.

There are more negative and antisocial behaviors, alcohol and substance abuse, irritability, restlessness, bad mood and aggressiveness, theft, desire and attempts to escape, feelings of not being accepted, lack of collaboration with the family, isolation, neglect of personal hygiene and self-care, hypersensitivity with social withdrawal and typical cognitions such as self-reproach, deteriorated self-image and decreased self-esteem.
